Pregnancy Q & A

What can I expect from pregnancy care?

Dr. Newton offer pregnancy care that’s designed to support you from the moment you find out you’re pregnant to the moment you hold your baby in your arms — and then some. In fact, they’ll continue to offer you support and stay involved in monitoring the health of the baby well after you welcome him or her into the world.

During pregnancy, their care is tailored to you and how your baby grows. They’ll set up a schedule of prenatal appointments with you to make sure they’re checking in at important growth milestones while also giving you ample opportunity to meet with them so they can answer your questions. Pregnancy can come with some unexpected symptoms like:

  • Leg pain
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Changes in your hair or skin

These might feel alarming, but Dr. Newton talks through your symptoms with you to let you know if anything is cause for concern or if everything you’re experiencing is totally normal.

They’ll also perform regular tests to monitor your and your baby’s health. Those might include:

  • Ultrasounds
  • Blood type testing
  • Blood tests
  • Glucose tests
  • Fetal echocardiography
  • Amniocentesis

These tests allow them to watch your baby as he or she grows and keep you informed about his or her health.

What if I have a high-risk pregnancy?

During a high-risk pregnancy, the right prenatal care is key. Dr. Newton is seasoned at helping women deliver healthy babies through pregnancies that are complicated by:

  • Gestational diabetes
  • Preeclampsia
  • Previously existing medical conditions
  • Slow growth of the baby
  • Maternal risk factors, like age or weight
  • Early labor

I’ve had a C-section but I want to give birth vaginally. Can I?

Absolutely. At Red Rock OB/GYN, Dr. Newton specializes in vaginal birth after Cesarean or VBAC. The majority of women who’ve had a C-section can still deliver a baby vaginally, but the birth process requires extra care and expertise. Dr. Newton provides what you need to deliver your baby vaginally.

Pregnancy is one of the most important seasons of a woman’s life. Get the care you need — and deserve — by calling Red Rock OB/GYN or booking your appointment online.
